LoJack Assists with Recovery of Two Stolen Vehicles in Fullerton, CA

A stolen vehicle equipped with a LoJack GPS tracking system led law enforcement to the recovery of not one, but two stolen cars in Orange County this week, thanks to coordinated efforts between the Orange County Auto Theft Task Force (OCATT) and LoJack. 

The case began when a Hawthorne, CA resident discovered her white 2016 Nissan 370Z was missing from the street in front of her home. The Hawthorne Police quickly responded, filed a theft report, and entered the vehicle into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database. The victim also contacted LoJack’s 24-hour stolen vehicle recovery line to report the theft. 

After verifying the vehicle’s stolen status, LoJack activated its GPS tracking system, which pinpointed the car’s location in front of a residence in Orange County. The vehicle was also added to LoJack LE, a system that provides law enforcement agencies real-time access to stolen vehicle location data. 

OCATT detectives responded to the location and observed two vehicles under car covers parked in front of the residence. While conducting surveillance, detectives saw a suspect arrive in another vehicle, partially remove one car cover, take off the license plates, and place them in his own car. 

Detectives moved in and detained two suspects at the scene. Upon uncovering both vehicles, they discovered two white Nissan 370Zs – both confirmed to be stolen. The second vehicle had been reported stolen out of Stanton, CA. 

Both stolen vehicles were recovered, processed for evidence, and will be returned to their rightful owners. 

“This case highlights the effectiveness of GPS technology and interagency cooperation in fighting auto theft,” said Task Force Sergeant Mendoza. “We are grateful for the collaboration between Hawthorne PD, OCATT, and LoJack, which led to a quick resolution and the safe return of two stolen vehicles.” 

The investigation is ongoing.
