Solera and F&P set a new standard in sustainability

In a major step towards sustainability, F&P, the Danish trade association for insurance companies and pension funds, has expanded its strategic partnership with Solera. This means every insurer across Denmark can track and offset the carbon emissions created through different processes in a vehicle’s life span – including Scope 3. This sets a new standard in the country and the world and is an opportunity to showcase this as a global first.
With over 700,000 insurance claims processed annually through the Autotaks, this integration brings sustainability into the heart of Denmark’s insurance industry. Solera’s tool allows insurers to measure emissions across Scope 1, 2, and even Scope 3 – a first for the industry. Scope 3 covers the indirect emissions throughout a vehicle’s lifecycle, making it essential for a complete picture of environmental impact.
This technology aligns with Denmark’s ambitious goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050, making it a key milestone for the country and beyond. It also showcases how this can be rolled out across Europe and beyond to improve emissions tracking and offsetting across the automotive industry.
Why does this matter?
Due to the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), coming into effect by 2025, many countries will require businesses to track and report their carbon emissions. Solera’s Sustainable Estimatics tool is currently the only solution designed specifically for the auto insurance sector – allowing businesses to measure their entire carbon footprint – including Scope 3 emissions – which are notoriously hard to track.
Using the tool, insurers can view detailed dashboards showing their carbon impact from vehicle collisions and repairs. This data allows companies to compare their performance with industry-wide and country-specific benchmarks, helping them understand where they stand on sustainability and how they can improve.
Trusted and Verified Solution
One key advantage of Solera’s Sustainable Estimatics is its ISO-14064-01 accreditation, ensuring that all data provided is accurate and trusted. As Peder Herbo, director of Autotaks at F&P states: “Solera’s solution is accredited, so not only does it provide the wealth of data offered, but we know its data has been verified as trusted to provide the accuracy we need. It will enable us to set a new standard for measuring the CO2 emissions of auto insurance claims across the entire country, supporting the industry in reducing its carbon footprint and improving efficiency.”
A Win for Insurers and Customers
The solution doesn’t just track carbon emissions – it also improves the accuracy of vehicle damage assessments, thanks to the use of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) data. This integration sets a new benchmark for Denmark, not just locally but globally. Insurers can better understand which parts are affected during a claim, streamline their workflows with body shops, and ultimately offer a more efficient service to customers.
Charge for a Greener Future
According to Franck Carpentier, Solera’s International Channel Sales & Operations Director:
“We’re proud to extend our partnership with F&P, a market leader that shares our commitment to shaping a more sustainable automotive industry. Denmark is already at the forefront of countries leading the charge on measuring and reducing carbon emissions, and this partnership will not only benefit the environment but also improve efficiency across the claims process.”
By integrating this technology, Solera is enhancing its global data lake with real-time information from Denmark, further positioning itself as a leader in carbon emission tracking within the automotive sector.
As the world moves towards a more sustainable future, partnerships like this will be key to making that vision a reality.
