LoJack assists Dallas Police Department with the recovery of a Toyota Rav4

Dallas, TX — A 2021 Toyota RAV4 stolen out of McKinney was successfully recovered in a remote wooded area thanks to its preinstalled LoJack® system and the rapid, coordinated efforts of the Dallas Police Department K9 Unit.

The theft was reported shortly after the owner discovered the RAV4 missing. McKinney Police officers immediately entered the vehicle into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), ensuring nationwide law-enforcement visibility. The owner also contacted the 24-hour LoJack Stolen Vehicle Recovery Hotline, activating the vehicle’s tracking capabilities.

Within moments, real-time GPS updates began transmitting through the LoJack Law Enforcement Application (LE App). Dallas Police K9 Detectives responding to the alert observed the vehicle moving away from the city and tracked it for nearly an hour until the signal stopped deep within a wooded area off a dirt path.

Snowy and icy conditions made the terrain inaccessible by vehicle, forcing detectives to continue the search on foot. After trekking through the wooded area, officers located the concealed Toyota RAV4—abandoned but intact.

The stolen SUV was safely towed from the scene and transported to an impound facility for evidence processing. Once investigators complete their work, the RAV4 will be returned to its rightful owner.
